I just want to verify because I saw a review in Amazon which stated that the 8 GB is just a repackaged 2g with updated software. Also can anybody tell me the difference between 2g and the newer 3g itouch in terms of features?

"Checking" iTunes

I recently migrated my iTunes library from PC to MBP. 95% of my library is intact and working perfectly.

There are however a heap of random tracks that are listed fine in the library (ie tag shows up fine, file is present, etc) which iTunes simply refuses to play (though VLC for example has no issues playing them). These tracks are sometimes part of an album, otherwise full albums, all mp3 or aac...

iTunes doesn't actually give an error of any sort, it just doesn't play them (and will skip to next song if on shuffle/etc).

With 10K songs I don't have the patience to sit down and test every single track in my library - does anyone know of some little utility that actually runs through and 'validates' your library to ensure everything is working??

Cheers in advance for any advice

multiple itunes - can I sync?

I have three PC's, each with itunes. Let's say PC A is my main machine, B is in the office and C is at my cottage in the woods.

A has all my music and I copy all that music to B and C (so now A=B=C)

Is there a way I can add a CD of music to itunes B and at some point have itunes sync up so A=B=C again?

I'd like for itunes to handle this, but so far don't think it can.

Is there a third party app to help?

Manually move files?
Thoughts?

Rating versus Album Rating

Is there any way to get rid of those annoying 'clear' automatic album ratings that itunes assigns whenever you rate a single track from that album?
You give one track a 5-star rating and iTunes assumes that every other track in that album is just as good.
I didn't rate the ALBUM, I rated the INDIVIDUAL track.

Add Artwork into iTunes not found via "Advanced" search

Hello,
In iTunes I have a link to a radio station. No artwork is available from the iTunes advanced search facility. Looking at the 'Help' dropdown, it says I can import artwork via the method of dragging the image (a jpg file) into the 'art work' box. This works in that in can drag the image into the 'now playing' box on the bottom left of the screen. However I can't discover how to then attach the artwork to the display in the main screen where album covers etc are displayed for selection. I've tried drag and drop from the 'now playing' box into the selected main box and no good.
Perhaps the 'art work' box is something else?
Can anyone help?

Opinions...Best way to move album artwork?

I have searched around but did not find the answer to the question I have. Here is the deal. I have 3 Macs with the same library of music on all 3. I started with my iMac and it was missing 83 album artworks. So what I did was manually add artwork to fill in the missing pieces. My iMac is full of all the correct artwork now. So I have my MacBook and my Mac Mini still missing the same artwork my iMac was. Here are the options that I was thinking of to get the artwork on my other Macs...

1. Do it manually again on both computers (kinda time consuming)

2. Deleting my iTunes libraries from both computers. Then following the appropriate Apple support article to use my iPod to move music from 1 computer to another using my iPod. Basically just taking my iMac library which is current with artwork and adding that same library to my other 2 macs.

Are there any other options that I have? What would be the best way to get this done?
Thanks guys and gals.

blu-ray support

i was just wondering when mac was going to get on the ball and support blu-ray. the new imacs have high def screens but what is the point when none of there programs support it, except itunes 720p and the ability to back up on blu-ray. they should at least update the dvd player for those of us that have a blu-ray burner could at least use this to watch them. i moved to the mac computer 2 years ago and this is one of my biggest gripes. i own a hd camcorder and would love to be able to burn my movies using i movie and i dvd but i cant. i have to use imovie and toast and then i still lose my 5.1 surround sound. just wonder if anyone else is feeling the way i do? thanks for listening.

iTunesDJ problem

Hi there. I’m on a PowerBook G4 running OS/X 10.4.11 and the latest revision to iTunes 9. I’ve turned on iTunesDJ in my preferences. But, every time I click on the iTunes DJ item in the left side list, all I get is a title screen on the right side showing the “Always in control” and “Make a request” blurbs. There’s nothing else there resembling the drop-down ‘Playlist’ menu on the bottom like how Party Shuffle had it. I do not have an iPhone nor iPod Touch but, that shouldn’t matter, right?

What step am I missing?

Connect multiple tracks

Is there a way to join say two or three songs, leaving a short space between, into one track?

I then want to write this to disk. A player I'm using on my motorcycle has a limit of 99 tracks per folder, and only 6 folders, but no limit on storage. If I could join two or three songs together I'd be able to double/triple the number of songs.

Thanks

Some video podcasts won't load on iPod video

I have been plagued for some time now with the message during iPod syncing that some video podcasts (Macworld) were not compatible with my iPod. I recently found the same thing with other video that I changed to podcast. They do work, however, on my wife's iPod Classic.

What is the difference in these 2 iPods that differentiates between podcasts and what are the possible differences between these podcasts?

I was able to circumvent the problem by selecting "convert to iPod or iPhone version" under the "advanced" menu but this took over 24 hours for a 2 hour video. They all seem to be mp4 files.

Any explanations?

How to exclude music from iTunes Genius Mixes?

Any way to get Genius Mixes to exclude portions of my library? Or is there an easy way to move my seasonal music out of my library and bring it in at the right time?
