Where is the default email address embedded?

Every time I signup for something, no matter which browser I use, it automatically drags up an old email address that I was using a year or so a go when I bought my IPOD touch (before my IMac). The IMac imported the address and uses it for all default entries. I can't find where to change it in OSX. I have been all through the system preferences with no luck, so I am just overlooking it or not recognizing it. Or it is some where else. I even ran a grep script from the terminal on the off chance that it is in a BSD file somewhere. Nope.
Anybody know?

Immediate Help Needed Please

I have a Macbook (2006) with OSX 10.5 Leopard installed. For no apparent reason, while my wife was working on it using our Quickbooks app, the screen suddenly grayed out and a very "non-macintosh" looking pop-up message appeared in four languages saying "You need to restart your computer Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button." No other buttons would work. My wife had no choice but to power off. Now the machine has gone crazy!

Trying a number of restarts, I have experienced the following: (1) it totally locks up, or (2) it gets to the white screen and makes repeated startup "bong" sounds, or (3) it does nothing at all and just stays black.

I tried inserting my original OSX system disk, but found a CD already inside. The eject button was frozen also. I restarted holding down the trackpad key. This removed the disk and I put my system disk in. Tried to restart from the system disk (holding down the C key) but it wouldn't start up. Then the system CD wouldn't eject either. Had to do the same thing again to get it out.

I tried starting up holding the option key and selecting the Mac hard drive. This got me to my regular screen and everything appeared fine for a couple of seconds, then here comes the dim screen with the same "You need to restart your computer" message as before. And the same results have occurred.

I do have a SuperDuper backup copy of my hard drive, but everything either locks up or goes back to the "You need to restart your computer..." message. Please help!

Printing Tabloid (ledger) size (11x17 documents) problem

After many resets and online help with Applecare experts, I am unable to print 11x17 documents, due to the greyed-out Tabloid setting in the print window. I was able to print this size doc. until about a year ago, but since then, cannot.

Whether in a PDF document, or a "Finale" (music publishing software) document, the Tabloid option is greyed-out, and thus not possible. Even under "Manage Custom Sizes", the Tabloid option will not work.

My old MacBook laptop, under OS 10.2, will allow me to do this, so I have to copy files from my newer OSes (I have three Macs) (10.5.2 and 10.6.2) to print tabloid size docs.

Can you offer a way to recapture the Tabloid printing option on my two newer Macs?

Thanks,

Using external USB modem with G4

I have an old PowerMac G4 that I want to give to my mom (who has minimal online needs). The issue is that she only has access to dial-up and this particular system came without an internal modem. I have looked into buying an internal modem but it does not come equipped with the actual port needed to plug in the phone cable, it's just the modem board.

So I started looking into getting an external USB modem instead. This unit has 2 USB ports and I need one direct to the printer and then I just have one left where I need to plug in the keyboard and the modem. My question is can I use a USB hub for those two items?

Hi,

I downloaded an .flv movie. Then with QuickTime I saved it as a .mov and sent it to some people that have Windows.

On my Mac I can see the movie with the audio. If I play the movie in Windows XP with QuickTime I can hear the audio, but there is no video. It tells me there is a component missing - doesn't specify which - and sends me to a web site with different components (divX, etc.). Does anybody what component is missing? Windows Media Player 11 also can't play the file.

Thanks for any help, Constantin

iPhoto Freezes

After my Intel iMAC Hard drive died a sudden and difficult death, Apple installed a new hard drive. Then they retrieved the data from the old hard drive.

Since then I have been on the phone three times with Elk Grove or Toronto because after opening iPhoto, using it for a little while, I have to use Force Quit to close it out.

Several tests were done.. created new libraries as a test, didn't work there either; odd thing is, sometimes it does close out properly. Tried cleaning out caches, cleaning out Preferences of iPhoto plist files, etc. Even removed and reloaded software with the Apple Supervisor in Toronto on the third service call. (thank goodness for Apple Care).

then when it still didn't work, took the machine in to the Genius Bar, they kept it for four days, ran hard drive tests for 4 hours, ran RAM tests, etc. Of course the morning I took it over and tried to show them the issue it worked fine. Gave them the Case # etc.

Get the machine back finally, try to use it... once again it didn't work and I had to use Force Quit to shut it down. So I turn machine off, turn it back on, shut down Parallels, thinking maybe a conflict there. No difference.

Then today it worked. Why? don't know... very confused about the whole thing. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

MBP w/Snow Leopard Not Connecting to Airport Network

I'm running a network from my desktop Mac (Tiger) using an internal Apple Airport card (serving as the base station). When my MacBook Pro w/Snow Leopard is powered up, it sees my network, I put in my password but then it eventually does not connect due to "connection timeout." I checked the Airport card yesterday and all seems okay, no loose connections. If it's going bad, I don't know how I'd check that. However, it has no problem being turned on from the Menu bar and, like I said, the MBP does see the network. I just can't connect this way. In connecting the MBP to other networks at other locations, I have no problem at all. That makes me think something has gone awry with my home network. But what?

Suggestions welcome!
