I have a Macbook (Mac OS X Version 10.4.11). When I play ANY songs through my iTunes, there is a horrible static sound coming from my speakers (the internal ones that come with the machine). If I stream live radio or play music from a place other than iTunes, I have no static at all. Any advice on how to fix this problem?

That is kind of strange. The only thing that I can think of off hand would be the content. What are the songs? MP3 files? If so, how where they ripped? At what bit rate? Did you rip them yourself? Have you played those songs on another computer? If so, did they sound OK?

OK, that is REALLY strange. Have you tried messing with equalizer settings? Maybe the preamp settings?

It does not sound like a hardware issue...otherwise the radio or other sounds would also have the problem if it was the speakers. It must be iTunes having some sort of brain cramp. The only other thing that I can think to try is uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it.

You might also try repairing the hard drive and permissions before trying to uninstall and reinstall iTunes.

Wait, what did you do with the equalizer exactly... I seem to be having the same problem!
