I, recently, came across a Macosxhints article, saying that new sounds can be added to a 'new folder in the user's Library, labeled 'Sounds'. They indicated, all one has to do is create the sound files in the .aiff format, and place them in this newly created Sounds folder, and they would be available in all the regular programs, including iCal.
I created one, placed it in the existing Sound folder, inside Library, and it shows up in Mail and iChat, and is also available in the drop-down list inside System Preferences, as one of the choices for alerts and Effects. However, IT DOES NOT appear as a choice inside iCal.
It was my previous understanding that new sounds could not be added to work inside iCal. I was encouraged to think that was NOT the case, when I read this particular article. Who is right?
Does anyone have any insights to offer on this subject? Thanks to anyone taking the time to post a response.
