So, I'm thinking of buying one of these and as far as I can tell Tech Tool Pro does everything Drive Genius does, plus more...
So, is Tech Tool Pro the obvious choice for me to purchase? or am I missing something in the fine print?

while the listed features are pretty much identical......
I have had and have seen drives found and recovered by Drive Genius that TTP could not. I can also say the reverse in favor of TTP.
over the many years of using Macs, my arsenal consists of two 3rd party disk utilities.
my first to use is Diskwarrior
my second is Drive Genius.

Of the "big three" (Disk Warrior, Drive Genius, and TechTool Pro), I have DW and TTP.
MacNuke is right. One might work where another doesn't, and there is no way to tell
which in advance.
One thing in TTP's favor is the "eDrive" boot partition it can create on your HD. Since
you can't repair the boot volume from the boot volume, most times you need to fire up
your utility from its startup CD or DVD. This is slower coming than Christmas. The eDrive
starts up as fast as any other HD. You can repair your HD before a DVD has finished
booting up.
An undocumented and unsupported feature is that you can put anything on the eDrive
that fits. I added Disk Warrior. And a couple other utilities. So I have the benefit of both
primary repair utilities in the same place.
Hope this helps.
