Hey all, here is what I'm trying to do:
Wake my downstairs G5 up at 6:30am using the power manager's scheduling pane.
Here is what is happening:
The G5 oversleeps, never waking up in the mornings.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? I've fiddled with the power manager settings repeatedly, I've even tried setting wakeorpoweron via pmset, but no love. I've considered trying to do a Wake for Admin Access from upstairs to wake the machine downstairs but I'm on an Airport network and read that this type of broadcast packet does isn't handled by wireless routers of any flavor.
Thanks for any ideas.
/edit: for the record, i put it to sleep using the power button on the front most nights, not sure if that's important.

I had just brought an iMac to the Genius because after putting it to sleep the machine would shutdown. . .
We looked up the machine type on the net and there was a recall on some types of iMacs with certain serial numbers.
We brought in the machine and they did some triage on it and returned it to the front counter. They said everything
was okay (I asked if they could repair the aging iMac under the recall and they said no. . .)
But being the cool company Apple was the Genius said he:
Reset the Power Management Unit.
Sorry for the long story but you might try to see how to reset the Power Management Unit in your particular unit.
These sorts of things are probably tricky so please read and then re-read any directions on how to do the reset carefully.
Check also the settings tucked away in the background to make sure you have those all in order e.g. Wake on . . .

Hm, reset the PMU, haven't ever done that on a G5... i think my old G4 was the last I did that on.
That makes me consider also that I haven't even zapped the PRAM in like a year.
And, I wonder about that little battery tucked away on the motherboard as well.
I think I'll try:
1. zap pram
2. reset pmu
3. replace battery
in that order and see if things aright themselves.
