These iPod classic/nano games aren't that impressive...'til you compare them with the average, non-iPhone, cell phone equivalent. Apple most likely allowed the creation and distribution of iPod games as a path way to the upcoming App Store for iPhone and iPod touch.

I'm the proud owner of 21 of the iPod games (I sit and wait in places a LOT). Sure some of them could be better (i.e. Sonic comes to mind-I played it "back in the day" and the thumb wheel doesn't really do it for me), but all in all I'm pretty happy. I'm a 47 year old with fairly crappy eye sight, I just went out and purchased glasses...lol! If you compare the faire with cell phones (like the last person), you'll find that for the price, all is good. Zuma and Cubis are my particular favorites, with Bomberman close behind. Soon, I too will be in the market for an iPhone-the larger screen will be much easier on the eyes. But for now I'm gonna be happy and go play Cubis again.....

Games on iPhone & iPod touch will be huge once developers get going with the SDK. The 'classic' iPod interface was designed for navigating a music device - which it does brilliantly, but cramming games onto it is a hack at best. Touch screens with 3D accelerometers are a different beast altogether.

To me games on iPod is just a extra bonus, not something you buy one for (I wouldn´t buy a PSP in order to play music either, too clumsy for me). Personally I now and then play the Backgammon while waiting and that´s fine for me. As the screen is so clear I watch a lot of sports and movies and have no problem while watching them (just hold it closer instead of sitting way back while watching TV)
