i just put the laptop on a box next the monitor; i align the bottoms of the screen, which is much more practical than the middles; sounds like this stand isn't flexible enough that i could count on doing the alignment properly ...

I'm pretty sure you can align this stand to place the laptop screen at the top or bottom of the display, though I didn't want it that low down so I opted for the middle, which is my eye level.

Ergotron tells me that forthcoming versions of this stand (as of May 1) will indeed be reversible, so you can place your laptop on the left side instead of the right if you prefer. Good to know.

Jason,
Any chance you could try your setup with a macbook pro 15". I'm seriously considering your exact setup but i'm wondering if the width of the 15" will make me have to get the 20" cinema display instead of the 23".
Please let me know... I would greatly appreciate it. We all know apple's open box return policy isn't the greatest.

Jason,

Does the stand work with a MacBook wth all connectors plugged in? With all the connectors on the left side (MagSafe, Ethernet, DVI, FireWire, 2 USB, and Headphone)? I wonder whether the edge of the external display would cut across those connections.

Thanks!
