I bought a new MacPro Intel with 10.5.3. I want to transfer my iPhoto library from my G4 400 tower to the new Mac. I exported the photos to a file and copied the file to my new Mac. When I go to import the photos they come as duplicates. I get two sets of photos one of them called "Originals". If I import just the file called originals I get just one set of photos. If I did that for all 4000+ photos it would take me forever (well almost). Is there any shorter way?

How about Migration Assistant? That should work.

Or work with these instructions: support.apple.com/kb/HT1229

Thanks for the suggestions. Migration Assistant was not of any help. I was unable to restart my Mac G4 in Target mode. An Apple tech said that the archetecture of some of the old PPC computers was incompatible with an Intel machine. I will now try the method you gave in the link. First I have to save the images already loaded on the MacPro.

Try connecting the two with an Ethernet cable and create a mini LAN for the transfer.
