can't read external hard disk

I have an external hard disk which is working fine until yesterday. After I switch off my PC & on it today, it can't read the drive. Tried with another PC gives the same result, as though the ext hard disk is not there.Will some one pl help me. Tks

pc? this is a mac forum! lol, i'll assume it was just a typo. is your harddrive booting up? it may be that your drive is faulty. when you plug it in, go to applications>utilities, and open disc utility. check if it shows up there.
