This one is on my list to replace my Samsung A900 phone, which has Rev. 0 EVDO support. The change in upload speeds will be dramatic.
It's impressive that it has an antenna port, given the size of the device. It's not likely I'd carry an antenna with me, but the option is likely useful, though I've had few disconnections (fewer than 10 in 2 years and those within 1 month and only at home) with the current phone and no external antenna.

Glenn - can you say more about the non-intuitive set-up for a "You are here" button. I'm not seeing how to do it

Have you tried calling them lately? They seem to be improving.

No matter how great the modem card is, it is attached to the vilest, scummiest, most despicable phone company in the USA, Sprint with the world's worst customer service, the worst record of bait and switch, the highest number of claims against it for false advertising, etc.

No phone company is great - but Sprint makes even AT&T seem adorable.

Being a bit rabid, don't you think?

That is all there is to your rabid rant, your own personal experience, just as all there is to my non rant is my own favourable opinion of Sprint.

MSN Money: now there is a definitive answer to everything.
Well, I exchanged my Samsung A900 for the Compass 597 and could only be more pleased if they gave it to me for free, including activation fee.
The sales person at the store was pleasant, informed, and worked to help me. That's not always been the case with the Sprint stores. The person who sold me the Samsung phone was almost yelling at me "you can't do that."
Surprisingly, they gave me the same deal as new people get: $49.99 after $50.00 rebate. Usually, I walk away grumbling about their "new for you" policy.
Besides, I didn't want to hope that I happened to be in one of the few places AT&T covers with 3G data access, if I travel.
