wase is the man! Those are the bottom lines most of us look at as oppose to shills who defend without shame corporate structure and corporate greed to explain to us how they are making it better. It's not better. ATT is a phone company and that should be their primary focus. I'm still dropping calls with ATT in all this making it better crap. Still can't get phones right.

There is a point of diminishing returns with this wifi stuff and we've reached it. Can't keep charging me for better internet because the Internets primary mission is still text based information...except that Google as a search engine seemed to have jumped the shark in recent months. But that's another rant for another time.

The whole iphone charging scheme is out of hand. Now we're paying extra for 3G, Extra for itunes ringtones, extra for SMS, and extra for internet access. Next thing you know we'll be paying for each time we touch a button.
I really love my iphone and it's the first phone I've ever really used all the features on But I'm not willing to get a part time job to pay for every little thing.
A T and T is greedy beyond belief. And Apple is right behind them. You should be allowed to get whatever carrier you want. This would create an even playing field and would make things competitive. Personally I would rather pay more up front for the phone and be able to choose the service I wanted.
I'm sticking with my old iphone and not paying to subsidize any million dollar CEO's salaries and bonus's.

That's the entire cell phone business. Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, all of them. You want ringtones, you pay. You want , you pay. Verizon got busted because they were lying about "unlimited" internet. Like blatantly. The ringtone industry alone is a multi-billion dollar business.

Why do you think that the same model phone can have rather different features and capabilities depending on the carrier? Greed.

And yes, if the carriers thought they could get away with it, they WOULD charge you to push a button. The idea that AT&T is worse, or even different is a fantasy. All cell carriers would sell their parents into slavery if it meant more profit. As well, since when has Apple NOT been a greedy corporation? I mean in reality, not the "good old days" fantasies of MacMacs.

As I understand it, this is what at&t charges everyone for 3G, so you aren't paying extra. I don't understand how "internet access" is different than 3G. I think you're padding the list.

As usual, if you don't like the price of something, don't buy it. I really don't see why people get so pissed off. There are many, many products that cost more than I'm willing to pay. I don't rant about them, I just don't buy them.

I was hoping the 3g ver. would have some amazing improvements. It looks cool, its got some nifty software, but I still think I'd be downgrading if I replaced my BlackjackII with it. No picture messaging still? email, not all my contacts check their email constantly. I think that if I bought a 3g ver. I'd love it at first, and then miss my Blackjack's features.

No effin way. For those many of you who can budget this in responsibly -- good for you! There is no way I'll be an iPhone user it appears. I was enteraining the possibility of getting one. At these prices, the freakin iPhone should be "free". Apple and ATT would make money anyway-- but I still wouldn't sign on. The price rings false to me. Glad there's the iPod touch though!

I currently have a Samsung Blackjack that I got a couple years ago. It crashes all the time when I try to surf the web. I have a family plan with this that includes the unlimited data plan and in addition the Telenav Navigation service (this plan does not include texting either). If I switch to the iPhone 3G, I can drop the Telenav Navigation and I'll actually spend $9.95 less a month! You can send emails instead of texting, so I don't know what everyone is complaining about. Of course I'll have to buy the TomTom Navigation software when it comes out, but I already had that for my Palm so I'm hoping I might get an upgrade price.

Well, I am one person that would buy a phone if I could get the data service a la carte and the number of minutes was comparable with my current TMobile plan of 1000 anytime minutes for 45.00. So the math is like this. I buy a phone for 199.00$, I get a monthly plan for 45.00, which is 540.00$/year, or I dont a buy a new phone and I dont switch carriers, in which case neither Apple nor AT&TT get any money from me. End of discussion.

Wow, with the new price increases, Helio is now cheaper per month than AT&T. I've been debating whether to get an Ocean or an iphone...
