i have a lot of mpeg4 movies recorded on mobile phones, namely a sonyericsson and a samsung. they all played fine on my mac until a while ago. now they don't open on quicktime.

each time there's a new update to quicktime, i have to put away the updated quicktimeMPEG4.component and replace it with an older version (703) i managed to keep by chance, that still allows me to play my movies smoothly.

i am writing to ask how can this be: has there been a change in the mpeg4 standard?
there has clearly been a modification on the quicktime component that prevents me to use and watch mobile phone movies that played fine before. what is happening here?

i am obviously thinking that there is something fishy here, but maybe there's something i am not seeing?

thank you in advance for your comments.
