Ok, I'm new to the world of Firewalls, so I need to ask a couple of questions. I've recently applied for Verizon's DSL service. I understand that setting access for specific services and applications is the best option. What is categorized as a service and what applications are important to list. I'm guessing Firefox and Safari as a start but what else needs to be protected? Does it make a difference that I am using a modem that came with the kit? Does that somehow provide more security? I don't want to install anyything until I understand the Firewall settings, so I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks!
