i have an old imac 800 that i want to hook up to my linksys wireless network in my house for the kids. i thought it would be as easy as buying a linksys wireless g usb adapter but it doesn't seem to work(or even see it). any thoughts on how i can do this would be helpful.

Hi
Well, it is in theory. You need to find a Mac OS compatible USB Wi-Fi adapter though. If you have Panther ( 10.3.9 ) or Tiger ( 10.4 ) you could get something like the Asus WL-167G. Newegg.com has it for ~$8 cheaper. Panther / Tiger driver is available from Asus support.
Last item of note is no matter if you get an 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n adapter, it will only be able to connect at 802.11b speeds ( up to 11Mbps ) because your Mac only has USB 1.1 ( 12Mbps )
