I love this app. My girlfriend and I always run out of places to eat. It's always the same old, same old... Urbanspoon makes it fun to find and try new places. Only problem i've had it it found my location the first time, and put in my zipcode, but whenever i'm in a new area and it finds my location, my old zip code is still there. it never changes

Unfortunately right now, if you don't live in one of the cities they cover (I live in the Salt Lake City area), the app will just crash.
I emailed the devs about it and they promptly responded:
"We don't currently cover Salt Lake, thus the error you're seeing. But we're working on adding SLC as we speak! We should have it available in a week or so. We're going to present a more graceful error when we don't cover someone's city."
It's nice to know that they know about the problems and are actively working on it.
I've also heard stories of devs just waiting on Apple to push app updates live, but that's a side issue.

Urbanspoon is definately a fun little app.. I like near+now for helping me find new restaurants though.

Urbanspoon is fun to shake, but I find GoodFood by Goodrec to be more useful. GoodFood has a very nice map interface that's movable and zoomable like Google Maps, and it's also much easier to add my own recommendations as well.

I love urbanspoon. I travel a fair bit & finding a restaurant is not hard; finding a good one another story; and finding a good one near where I am or where I am going makes it that much harder.
Urbanspoon helps on both counts--good and nearby. My GPS, googlemaps, and AroundMe round out the quartet of finding good food on the road. When traveling I hate to eat at the same place twice. Urbanspoon caters to this impulse in me with its slot-machinelike interface.
