I have about 13,000 songs on an ipod classic 160gig. when using shuffle, i get "random" artist & album butttttt, seems to usually go to the same song in the album every time. in other words, with any particular artist, it seems that the shuffle only picks from 1-10 songs. i am guessing that if alowed to play back 13,000 songs, the selection might be random. i only get up to a hundreds songs or so before i have to interupt the play back. i understand the issue of real vs artificial randomness.

what i am wondering is, is there a way to increase the chance of randomly sellecting a song that it has not sellected before.

thnks

Hi
I know what you're speaking of and, I think, it has to do more so with the iPod choosing songs that you listen to more ( higher play count ) and those rated higher. I recall this being some sort of feature during a particular version release as songs you listen to more you will most likely enjoy more theory. Sort of the same idea that sprouted the Party Shuffle. Under iTunes--->Preferences-->Playback there is a Smart Shuffle slider that you could try to 'tweak' but I don't know if this effects iPods or not. I don't have my iPod touch on me to check if there is something similar in the setting on the iPod.
