I wonder whether anyone can help.
I've jusdt had my G4 which is running OSx.4 (Tiger)updated with a new hard drive to extend its memory. It had to go back several times with various fdifferent problems but I finally got it running fine until I downloaded a routine security update from Mac.
The download may have been a co-incidence, but I've now lost my CD drive. It doesn't seem to be recognised in the system, Toast is only reading my DVD (external) drive and the door to the CD drive won't open.
I know that this is a help thing more than a discussion but I'd really be grateful if anyone can tell me whether there's anything I can do before taking it back to the repair man.
Thanx everso

Hi bastion
thank you for your help with this. I am pleased so say that I've now solved the problem! It appears that the repair man didn't connect up the CD drive inside the tower. I had a look inside and found something that looked like it might fit on the back of the drive, shoved it in and hey prest! I now have a CD drive again.
thanx everso for taking time out to help
kind regards
