Ah!
Then Mac Fanboys complain that "Windows Sucks" , coz of Bugs! :)
Well windows do suck! and windows did copied / borrowed the idea from Apple. And hmmm.... iPhone Mega Launch! and that stuff!? Dang!
Well I am good with my 1st Gen iPhone on T-Mobile in USA (San Francisco, CA specifically), until the "third-cycle" of iPhone (which I hope will be available for everyone not for Big Bro (AT&T) only)
Ciao,

The bug I'm facing is that only two of the fifteen or so applications I've installed on my 1st gen iPhone are showing up in iTunes.

By the way...
iPhone applications downloaded to your Mac are stored in the ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications folder.
If you remove an app file from that folder, the app's icon still remains in the iTunes Applications listing. It's probably not a great idea to start fiddling with the contents of this folder.
However, in another oddity, if you have updated an application, it appears that both the old and the updated versions of the application remain in this folder. For example, right now I have NYTimes.ipa, NYTimes 1.ipa, and NYTimes 2.ipa in my Mobile Applications folder. I assume I can safely delete the older versions, but I have not yet tested this out.
I also have 5 copies(!) of the Pandora application in this folder, even though I have never updated it. Not sure what this is about.
Clearly, there are still some kinks to be worked out here.

The crashing is a big disappointment I have with 2.0. I don't mean applications crashing - that's to be expected - but sometimes something happens that results in a reboot (and the reboot takes a long time). Usually this happens sometime after I start noticing that some apps are crashing at launch. Obviously the thing to do is to shut down and power up manually as soon as you notice crashing, but this isn't always convenient. When an app crashes it shouldn't bring the whole system down, so there are definitely bugs to be worked out.
Another disappointment is how long it takes to install even the simplest of applications when you download them on your iPod/iPhone. Also, after it finishes installing it then pings the network again, and if it can't get to the net, the install fails. This may not be a big problem on the iPhone, but on the iPod touch, if you download an app and then leave your house before the (lengthy) install finishes, you're out of luck. What is it doing anyway? Why does it have to go out to the network again at the end?
In spite of all that I'm overall very pleased with 2.0 on my 16 GB iPod Touch. The AppStore is addicting. I'm sure they'll get the bugs fixed, and hopefully they can find a way to speed up on-iPod installs.

That's because, more than a year in, Macworld hasn't bothered to make an iPhone-friendly version of their site (at least, not that I've been able to find). I know it's supposed to be "the whole Internet," but we all know there are some sites that just suck on the iPhone. This is one of them, unfortunately.

The App Store is a cool concept, but at this stage, I have sadly come to realize that it is not ready for prime time. Every few days, I get the tsunami bug that wipes out every downloaded app so that none will launch. I'm not alone, either. There's all kinds of talk about it on the Apple iPhone discussion forum. Sometimes a cold restart will breathe life back into the apps, but today, even that didn't work for me and I had to delete everything and re-install. No doubt there is buggy third party software out there, but no one app should be allowed to trash the others like that. It reminds me of Classic. I hope a firmware update is in the works to put an end to this.

Try swiping to the left on your home screen and see if it takes you to the second page, where the rest of your apps are. Hope this is helpful.

JUST IN CASE:
Just wanted to let everyone also know that if you have an app that crashes your iPod Touch or iPhone to the point where when every time you turn it on it stays at the black screen with the apple and will not go any further you can do what i like to call a "hard reset" i call it this because you will have to restore you iPod Touch/iPhone after doing it.
1st: hold the home button and the power button down until the iPod touch or iPhone is off and let go before it restarts
2nd: open iTunes on your computer
3rd: hold down only the Home button for 6 seconds (after the 6 seconds continue to hold down the home button)
4th: still holding down only the home button connect your iPod Touch/iPhone to the computer via the sync cable. (Again continue to hold down the home button)
5th: continue to hold down the home button until the screen displays the the Sync Cable icon going to the iTunes icon (you may have seen this when you first went to set up your iPod/iPhone for the first time)
6th: the ipod/iphone will appear in the device list go to it if iTunes has not already done so and click Restore.

Ted,

Did you ever determine if old versions of updated applications can be removed without any negative effect?

I haven't had crashing of apps or the iPod as an issue. I occasionally have reset the iPod (hard restart, not restore) to get my Contact Book to respond without a delay and to deal with accellerated battery depletion. I'm curious whether there are LCD (lowest common denominators) apps that are common to all those people experiencing crashing. also - how many apps are people installing? I did a little housekeeping last week, deleted a few that didn't work they way I wanted or wasn't using. The ones I kept are all working flawlessly. In addition to the 17 default apps, I have 12 3rd party apps.

If you mean the copies of the .ipa files in the Mobile Applications folder, the answer is Yes. They can be safely removed. At least I have never had a problem from doing so.
