Review: Bejeweled 2 for iPhone

Compared to the original Bejeweled Deluxe, I found Bejeweled 2 overly glitzy and frenetic. Transitions between levels feature an extended (and pointless) light show/vortex display. The new "Classic" backgrounds are well-rendered, but the whole game now smells like someone tried to make it more exciting by adding a heaping portion of lights and noise. Personally, I'm sticking with the original.

The only thing keeping me away from the new version is the price. I agree, the $4.99 would be a more reasonable price.
I have purchase the original Bejewled several times now (phone, ipod) and the new one doesn't have much attraction for me. I got use to the free one at http://static.popcap...ames/bejeweled/ but I had to have a Wi-Fi connection to get it.
I wish they would release the original version on the store for free or even 99¢.

I have this game for the Palm T|X, and it plays the same as the Mac version. You can enter your name, high scores are saved for each type of game, and you can unlock bonus variations of the game. Why couldn't they implement these features on the iPod Touch and iPhone? Unless and until they do, I won't pay for this game again.

It's only a webapp, with all the inherent limitations, but you can play the original version at

For $10, I'm annoyed that there is no "Top 10" history of scores, and it seems to almost always get to around the same level when it runs out of moves.
$5 would be better.
