After downloading and running ClamXav 1.1 my MBP (15, 2.4, 4GB, OSX 10.5.4) started to behave strangely; the screen toke on a grayish hue and was filled with vertical black lines, spaced like in a fence, irregularly spaced in about 1 cm columns covering he entire screen. The gray hue/black lines image lasted a few seconds and afterwards the computer was irresponsive. After a forced restart (cmdaltesc didn't work), the same thing happened again, I even got the grey/black image when the computer was starting up, and I removed the application using the uninstaller provided.

Regarding the Macbook Pro comments... this issue (high fan RPM, hot chassis) has nothing to do with ClamXav and everything to do with the computer itself. You can create this condition very easily on 2007 Macbook Pros just by running some CPU-hungry apps like Photoshop or other popular programs. This is the price you pay for having high powered components crammed into a minimal space... the heat is tougher to dissipate and so the fans have to work OT.

I've been using "ClamXav 1.1.1" for a while.. got tired of NORTON slowing down my Mac!!
I use "Tiger 10.4x".. No problems.. If you're using Leopard 10.5x.. you're probably going to
need "iAntiVirus" from PC Tools, that only works on 10.5 and up - it's free too!
You can down load at this site - www.iantivirus.com/ or on "CNET'S" web site.
Hope this helps.. LL

I've used ClamXav for more than 10 months now, my total scans on my Mac is about 35-40 scans, and guess what... not one virus was detected on my system! It is true that the Mac isn't immune from viruses and/or spyware files; but its more secure than the plagued Windows OS!! I even used MacScan; and guess again... not one spyware file was detected!!! it found one "Tracking Cookie" from CNN's website!!!!!! Cool! thanks to OS X's UNIX foundation...
