Review: Golf scoring applications for iPhone

ok, about 6 months ago I found GXP2 for my mac. One of the things that made me download it was that they also made an app for iPhone, iGXP2 (obviously for hacked phones), that allowed you to play a round and then send your scorecard, by email, to yourself and upload it into the OS X app.
it looks like it has all the bells and whistles that TeeShot has, just not out yet. I wonder when that is coming out?

Figures; I post that I've never heard of a web-based app, and a few minutes later, someone emails me with one:
http://www.apple.com...tscorecard.html
I haven't used it yet. It's web-based, running in Mobile Safari, and you'll need a free account on oobgolf.com to use it.

Thanks for the very positive review!
We've gotten lots of great feedback on TeeShot and the next feature release will include scoring for up to 4 players as well as GPS support for measuring shots.
We will be posting more details about upcoming features at http://blog.teeshotlive.com and feedback and feature requests are absolutely welcome.

"Birdie: ... you’ll be sliding your finger to the right a total of 28 times"
Just use two fingers when sliding and you're down to 14 times. Use three fingers and you're down to less than 10...
Have a look to the tutorial movies on their homepage!
"a set of simple plus and minus buttons would be much faster and less stressful"
On the contrary, please do the math! How often do you have to press a plus button to count a total of 28 strokes? Oh, 28 times!
Can you use multiple fingers when pushing a button to speed up counting like with the sliders? I don't think so.

While you can't use multiple fingers with buttons, you can tap-and-hold a button to have it increment automatically. While multi-finger swipes save time, the disadvantage is that you then must hold the iPhone in two hands -- swiping with just one finger (my thumb, actually), I was able to walk and record scores with one hand, leaving the other hand free to pull the golf clubs on the pull-cart (or to hold on if you're riding in a cart, etc.)
Some people may prefer the sliders, but I find buttons, or just tapping in an actual number -- to be easier and quicker.

While it isn't a scorecard I think people should check out Fairway:
http://www.wideaslee...oducts/fairway/
It's a virtual caddie for your iPhone. It should be on the AppStore shortly ... I have lot of things planned for the application. While I don't have plans for it to become a gps scorecard application it will a great aid in club selection and game improvement for beginners and experts.
