I'm generating a newsletter with Word 2004. In the newsletter there are several email addresses and hyperlinks. All the addresses and hyperlinks appear correctly in Word. When I print the document to a pdf file the email addresses and hyperlinks no longer function in the pdf file. When I place the mouse pointer over a hyperlink or email address nothing shows up. Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix this problem?

instead of printing to a pdf save it as a pdf, under file>>save as, i think that works in 2004 as well, I use 2008 and it works, i think an update put it in 2004.

My Word version 2004 is current but I don't have the option of saving to a pdf file. I tried saving as postscript and then opened that with Preview but the links don't work that way either. So far the only solution I've found is to open the pdf file with Adobe Reader. When you click on the link a popup window opens asking if you want to allow the connection to the web link. I should also add that this all started when another co-worker generated the newsletter on a PC and sent it out to our community, when several of us tried to open the link on our Macs it fails. The links work on the PC. From what I've been able to determine this is a "new feature" of Preview.

Try opening the file in Adobe Reader instead of Preview -- do the links work there?

Yes, the links work. I do get a popup window asking me to "Allow" or "Deny" connection to the link address. This is temporary(?) solution for this unless someone knows why or how to get the links to open in Preview.

I believe that's a limitation of Preview (dealing with links from Word), at least up through 10.4 (not sure if it's fixed in 10.5 or not).
