I know how to edit the titles of photos in iPhoto. But, if I want the titles of the photos to actually show up superimposed on the photo itself so that it would be displayed when someone else viewed the photos on their computer or digital photo frame, is there a way to do that?

Let me modify my question a bit.

Can someone suggest a simple, basic photo editor program that includes the ability to add text to photos?

-Hi,

Do you think Photoshop Elements is overkill? It can also poP on a watermark for you.

I mentioned Econ Technologies' Portraits & Prints the other day for adding captions below a picture. You can even more easily add one directly on your images. Give the demo a try.

Doug, thanks for the idea. After looking at Photoshop Elements, I have to say, yes, I think it is overkill for what I want to do.

Chris, that is a very interesting program! In the WIN world, there is Irfanview, a freeware program that offers amazing tools at the best possible price. It allows adding text to photos. I have a partitioned HD and can always go to the "other" side to add text and then come back to iPhoto. But, I really want to avoid that hassle. Your idea might get the job done.

Hi -Chris,

That Portraits & Prints looks like a very cool program for images. Sorry I missed it first time 'round.

There is Seashore which is freeware and Acorn which is shareware but handles layers.
