My son and I have been playing Age of Empires II via my iMac and iBook connected directly via an ethernet cable. I just bought him an iMac and plan on getting an AirPort so the two iMacs can talk to each other.

My question: If the two iMacs are connected via Airport, could I still connect the iBook to one of them via ethernet cable and have all three machines talking to each other for internet access, gaming, file sharing, etc?

Thanks in advance.

ps: Running 9.2.2

When you use Airport the whole idea is wireless. Why would you want an airport network alongside a wired network?

To avoid buying a $99 Airport card for the iBook (if it even takes one).

Well, if you had a hub or a router in between, or the snow ABS with the one ethernet LAN connection, you might be able to configure it. Once you enable file sharing, though, you better have a router with hardware firewall protecting all 3.
