Popup Ads are back!!!

Yes i have the ad blocker on safari turned on. Yet it is just like the nineties, popup ads appear on my screen every minute or so. Is this a breakdown of safari software, or some clever hack who has found a way to tell me i have won somthing?

I'm not sure. I'm running the Safari 3.1.2 and OS 10.5.4 and I only get pop-ups from one site (stltoday.com/sports) When I use Firefox I don't get any from there.

Anyone else have any ideas?
