Machine I-mac running OS X 10.5.4
Internet provider Windstream DSL
Router Speedstream 4200
Wireless Airport Extreme
I can update the router per instructions for Speedstream 5200.
All is well and working fine, until I put the I-mac to sleep, restart,
or shut down and start up. At this point I have no internet service at
all, this is true even if I leave the router plugged directly into the
I-mac.
I can reboot the router and the I-mac and service returns.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

JerryB,
You may want to look at the router configuration; more specifically, at the setting that keeps your connection alive permanently (this option needs to be active) as opposed to on-demand connection basis. Also, I suggest you shut down DHCP services at the Speedstream router. Then, assign a static IP address to the WAN interface at the Airport Exptreme router and make sure DHCP is enabled. This will make sure that your mac picks an IP address from the Airport unit.
See how that works.
