Bleargh ! One menu bar stretched right across all 3 displays ? What about setting a different colour profile for different monitors ? Running them at different resolutions ?
I'd be interested in seeing a review of the USB-based video card solution that's available (sorry, can't remember the name of it).

Unfortunately, this may not work with the mac mini. It appears that the minimum hardware requirements of the video subsystem on the host computer must be able to support 3 displays. According to Matrox (the makers of TripleHeadtoGo), only Mac systems with at least the video power of an ATi XT 1600 or greater can use the TripleHeadtoGo. They specifically say that systems with an Intel GMA 950 are limited to 2 screens (2x 1024x768)
Bummer...

So looking at the videocast, I see all 3 displays working great. Not sure why Matrox states that Mac Minis don't support all 3 displays.

Think I'll buy one today!

I guess this is a teaser for a Macworld article so I won’t pick on Roman too much.
The idea behind a 3-display setup is to get the desktop realestate area.... meaning taking advantage of the native resolution of each monitor to maximize the viewing area. Given that the maximum ability of the Mac Mini comes nowhere close to supporting 3 x 24" monitors (1920 x 1200) what Roman must have done was to reduce a total resolution of 5760 x 3600 to the size of a 1920 x 1200 while paying over $300 for the privilege to distort all the images by blowing them out of proportion.
If you're in such a predicament that needs 3 displays, 1st you shouldn’t be on a Mac mini, second you would be better off connecting your computer to your LCD TV, third, what the heck are you doing with VGA?
If you have 3x15" monitors laying around and want to use them, by all means go pluck down > $300 to connect them all or you can simply buy a 24" Samsung monitor for $45 more and donate the screens to a school. Your call!

There's a typo in the show notes, it says this video marks the debut of the ad, that was actually last week.
Anyways, I think that it's a disadvantage to have 3 displays all equalling one desktop, there should be a software/device that makes multiple desktops, like in windows. The icons appear only once, but the dock and menu bar would be duplicated, or it should just be the desktop in one screen, and a bland screen, otherwise the dock would get all messed up between screens, as well as the wallpaper.

you do realize that the mac os handles mulitple monitors very well ? The issue here is having enough physical connectors.

Ugh. Try typing in this forum using a iPhone :o
