I'm upgrading my RAM to 4GB. Planning on getting it from Crucial (www.crucial.com). As of right now I have a total of 1GB of RAM (4x 256MB DDR SDRAM - 2 are PC3200U-30330, 2 are PC2700U-25330), but it just isn't cutting it. My problem is I don't know whether or not I will need to remove the 4x256MB I have in there now when I install the new 4GB of RAM.
So will my G5 work with 1GB DIMMs in slot 1-4 AND 256MB DIMMs in slots 5-8, or will I need to remove the 4x256MB DIMMs when I add in the new 4GB of RAM?

If anyone can please answer this for me I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Mike

you currently have 2 sets of matched pairs in your machine.
the 1g sticks are all the same ( x4 )

fill the balance up.
the Mac really doesn't care as long as you don't pair a 256 with a 1G.

so just plug em all in the remaining slots and enjoy
