I'm having some trouble understanding the differences in export options from iMovie HD and iMovie '08 for a movie to played on an HDTV via the video out on a Touch.

Basically, I have raw digital video in a bunch of iMovie HD projects. When I export the movie using the Expert Settings option and selecting Movie to iPod, the resulting movie has a lot of pixelation when played on my TV. Selecting Movie to iPhone, improves the quality, but slight pixelation still appears.

Now if I import that project into iMovie '08 and then Export Movie (not using QuickTime) to the Mobile setting, the movie looks good played on a TV and has no pixelation. And if I export Movie to iPhone using QuickTime, the quality is comparable to the Mobile setting but has a lower bitrate and slightly smaller file size.

So my questions are:
- What's causing the difference of quality since exporting Movie to iPhone on iMovie HD looks worse than Movie to iPhone on iMovie '08?
- Is there any way to get a decent export from iMovie HD that would transfer to the Touch and play on an HDTV? I'd rather not have to import every iMovie HD project into iMovie '08, and when I tried exporting to .mov or .mp4, I was unable to transfer to the Touch.
- Does the Mobile setting on Export Movie in iMovie '08 use max quality settings or is there a way to use the Medium and Large settings and still be able to transfer the file to the Touch?

Any explanations, theories or suggestions would be appreciated.
