Hello!

I'm looking forward to the game Spore, being released on the 7th of September. However, while it is being released on both platforms (Mac/Windows), looking online (such as Amazon.com), It seems that on most sites you can only buy the windows box - despite saying "Mac and Windows compatible".

Are both the Mac and Windows versions on the same disc, like in old games such as Warcraft or Starcraft, or are there two different discs? I'm not about to order the game until I confirm this...

Thanks.

well, U just look at box and try to find logo, if it said PC DVD or PC CD, it is for pc only. if it said Mac DVD or MAC CD, it is for mac only. If it said PC/MAC then it is hybrid Disc which can install both PC and MA

Click this link to image of box for Spore. u can see it has WIN/Mac/DVD logo which mean it is hybrid.

now, if u are confuse by logo, I will be clear here:

Win: Window

pc: Window

Mac: Mac OS X

Thanks for the quick answer.

I understand that the logo is the way to tell what OS it's designed for. The problem, however, is that without a retailer that carries Mac software in my town, I'll need to order it online. Amazon.com, for example, does not always have good images - or has images for a slightly different version of software than is actually listed. Indeed, many sites have a disclaimer that "images are for illustrative purposes, appearance may vary". I don't trust the images on many sites for specifics on requirements and OS compatibility for exactly that reason.

I'm not exactly sure, then, how to tell the difference. I know there are several online stores for Mac-specific games/software, so I'll probably end up ordering it there, but considering that I have store credit/gift cards for some other stores/sites, I'd like to use it...

Yes, both Mac and Windows versions are on the same disc. This goes for both the "regular" and "Galactic" editions of Spore.

Just a quick heads up for those (like me) downloading the game, the EA Store offers only the PC version for download. To d/l the Mac version, you'll have to go to a site like GameTree online (not affiliated in anyway, etc etc).

For those who are unfamiliar, GameTree Online is the e-commerce site for TransGaming, the company that EA contracted to manage the Macintosh conversion of Spore.
