iChat locks me out with Netgear router

I recently got a Netgear WNR834Bv2 router, and I am having the following problem. When I try to open iChat, it will connect for a second and then immediately log me off. It then tries to reconnect, logs off, reconnects, logs off, etc until I get the message "you have tried to log in to many times, please try again in a few minutes". Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this problem?
