I need to create a calendar in iCal that can be edited and published by both myself and my fiance. We have separate Mac portables and separate MobileMe accounts and we both need to be able to edit and publish changes to the same calendars. As I said, we have MobileMe, however, MobileMe only lets you subscribe to someone else's calendar, not edit it. The only solutions that I've found are:

 buy a new iMac to go along with our portables and install Leopard Server on it so that I can have iCal Server (seems a bit overambitious for just iCal server.)
 purchase Busy Sync, which works well, but doesn't totally play well with Mobile Me calendar syncing and publishing. (I've corresponded with the developers who gave me a workaround, but it may be more of a workaround that what I'm willing to do.)

Does anyone have any knowledge of another app that can accomplish this?

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Use google calendar and create a CAL DAV account in iCal, you can then both view and edit it.

Wow.. I had no idea I could do that. I've started to set it up, but I have a question: I assume that she and do not have to share the same gmail account to get this to work, right? She should have hers, I can have mine, and I can allow her to view and edit the calendar.

Thank you so much for this, Rab! This is great!

As long as you have each other's password to set up the accounts that is fine. You can create a CAL DAV account for any gmail account that you have the info for.
Edit: Also, could you please mark the reply as some sort of answer, as from you response, it seems to be a correct answer.

rab,

Thank you for the help. I've tried to get this to work every which way from Sunday and have failed every time. I'm going to reach out to the Google Calendar help forums and see if anyone there may be able to assist me as it seems it should work, but just doesn't yet. I wanted to ask you for help, but you've done more than enough and I don't want to overextend myself.

Thanks for your help with this.

Here's a link to the google support site with explicit instructions on how to do it.

Hey rab,

I've followed the instructions on that page, unsuccessfully. I'm going to keep at it though. Don't see why it shouldn't work. Again, thanks for your help with this.
