I'm bookmarking this to read later. Your first paragraph really grabbed me: The only one of those tools I knew about was systemprofiler!

Just a correction: on my system (10.5.4), my System Profiler is called "system_profiler", not "systemprofiler".

An old article, but super helpful! A note: to have the new alias take effect, I had to restart Terminal - otherwise really easy!
