I have been a PC user for years and have just sold my business to start a new one. I throughout all the PCs and went MAC. Love it but now I have this issue with QB. When I read all the reviews it seems to read that the cross over product is not the same and many disappointed people are frustrated with the program. OK but now what?I need to go live by December 1st.. I need a program that will track my invoices, inventory and clients... I looked at Quicken but its just not the same... can any one who runs a business let me know what to do? thanks!

There are many things to consider when deciding which accounting program to use. The biggest problems with the current QuickBooks for Mac are: difficulty in transferring to your CPA (no accountant's copy), the interface is different (like the 1999 version of the pc version), online banking is not at the same level, and it doesn't have networking (multi-users). The 2009 version is due out in October and is supposed to have better online banking and the navigators are supposed to be similar to the pc version. Networking has not been addressed. So, depending on what you need, the 2009 version my satisfy your needs.

MYOB is a good alternative. It works exactly the same on PC and Mac, but there is a learning curve when moving from QuickBooks. It should be able to handle what you need. The biggest frustration I find in MYOB is the reporting is a lot more "locked down" than in QuickBooks.

If you love the pc product, you can always run it through Parallels or use a company like www.myrealdata.com to host the windows version. Depending on the size of your company and how much you want to spend, online programs may be a good way to go too. Net Suite or NetBooks might be good options for you as well.

I can't tell you what the best accounting program is for you, because I don't know your business. But I can tell you that there are certainly plenty of alternatives to QuickBooks for the Macintosh. I don't know why there is a prevalent myth that there is no accounting software for the Macintosh, but it is not at all true. Here's a list:

Hi, could you please tell me how you got quickbooks PC to run through parrells. I have tried and tried and it will not load properly. I really like quickbooks on my PC, but now I am a Mac. I would like to go all Mac, but I DO NOT like the mac version of quickboos, please help!!
