I'm planning on buying a camcorder, for the first time, to use in film making. Nothing to serious but as a starting point in my last years of school for what i want to do in the future. I'm intrested in mainly editing, fotage quality and what is compatible with my mac. I'm going to buy Final Cut Express but no idea about the camcorder. Should i get tape or hd etc? Which ones are compatible with macs? What does everyone use?

Price not so important if it's the right thing, but looking more at the smaller models, not so much the big proffessional types.

It's so hard buying for the first time and very expensive here in Australia so I need to get the right thing...

If you want to get an HHD camera you must have an intel based mac. But I would not think about what you are going to do tomorrow but what are you going to do next year with your camera you don't want to out grow it in 3 months.
