Great review and a great product. I recently moved over from Newsfire because NetnewsWire syncs with Newsgator so that I can read RSS on the iPhone without having to re-read feeds when I get home at night. Syncing with an on-line service is this applications greatest strength.

Great review! I myself am a user of NNW and absolutely love the program. I am also a user of FeedDemon on the PC, used it before it merged with NewsGator in fact. And when Nick moved to NewsGator and integrated the sync features I was instantly in love with that part of the service.
Now I have all my feeds synced at work (PC), my laptop (MacBook Pro), and my cellphone (BlackBerry) so I'm always up to date on my news.

I have recently joined the RSS world via NNW, on the Mac and the iPhone, and am pretty pleased. I have come across one feature/bug that had me scratching my head for a while, which I will share here to possibly save a newbie some confusion.
The iPhone app won't display a feed until there are unread items for it. I found this quite by accident (isn't that how it usually goes?) when I subscribed to a couple of new feeds in the Mac app. After subscription, I read all the articles I wanted to and marked everything as read. After making sure I was synced with the NewsGator site, I launched the app on the iPhone only to be puzzled why my two new feeds weren't listed. I checked the web site and they were there, so I started thinking it was a bug (and how could they miss that one?!) I then did a little experiment by subscribing to another new feed, which obviously had unread items, and then checking the iPhone. The new feed was listed. My suspicions were proved correct yesterday when one of the original new feeds that I added had a new article published and the feed showed up on the iPhone. But once it's listed on the iPhone, it doesn't go away when all the items are read, which is good.
I submitted feedback via the Provide Feedback option in the NNW menu, but haven't heard anything yet.
Peace.

Good work pkoebbe,

I believe the only way to stop feeds showing up is to edit your location settings from Newsgator.
It would be nice to be able to do this from the Application itself as I find the online site clunky, cumbersome and annoying to navigate.
