I have a lot of film left over from pre-digital times. At first I bought a flatbed scanner with a gizmo to scan film. I still use the scanner but not for film. It never worked right for me. Then I looked for a service to scan my films for archiving. Whoa! I am not a millionaire! I then bought a used Nikon 4000. The price was right but it never went out of eject mode. I returned the beast.
A week ago I got a "as new" Nikon 5000. On the net some users of this scanner are complaining that it doesn't work with Leopard. At first being impatient I did not wait for the scanner to do it's things. I got in trouble, But then I realized it has to compute loads of information. So I waited for it do it's things and everything worked great from now on. The scanning results are magnificent and fast (almost 3 time faster than the next model sold. The guys complaining that it doesn't work with Leopard are wrong. It works great! Another few days of this and this scanner will make somebody else very happy on Ebay.

Would anyone believe that today the Nikon 5000 rejects all films? I upgraded Leopard as any good user would do when it became available and now this wonderful scanner non-longer work. Apple care essentially told me talk to Nikon we wash our hands from your problem. No in so many words and in a nice fashion. I feel like I been had not by any fault of mine beside trusting Apple to do the right thing as usual.

Mea Culpa! It is my fault . The scanner is doing great. By coincidence it refused to scan a film just after the Leopard update. I tried a film I already had scanned and it scanned perfectly. This scanner inspects the film. If it is not perfect it refuses to scan it. I am back full time scanning away. Boy do I love this scanner!
