A couple of weeks ago I was contemplating a Macbook Air- I decided that I would wait for the Apple September Event to make a decision. After that event yeilded no changes the the Macbook line I thought that I could wait a few more months for something new. My question: When will Apple give the Macbook and Macbook Pro and update? MAcbook Air? There were many rumors in the air about a new macbook etc.. I just dont want to buy a new laptop and a new model/refresh comes out a month later. Any ideas about new things in the Macbook line would be greatly appreciated!

Wait until Oct. 14.

That's the date most of the rumor sites -- who have a good track record -- are saying will be the announcement for newly-styled MacBook and MacBook Pro models and some report a more "aggressive" pricing on the MacBook. As for whether there will be an update on the MacBook Air is, well, up in the air.

Remember, those are only rumors but all signs seem to point to something coming very soon.

macrumors.com is a good site to peruse as well as many of the others out there. Macrumors also has a handy buying guide that adds in historical update schedules for pretty good predictions.

I'm not sure what to expect for the MBP, but based on what I've found, we can expect the new Cantiga chipset with 1067 MHz FSB and Montevina refresh Penryns (socket B) together with X4500 integrated graphics. Additionally it looks like apple is giving dumping the polycarbinate enclosure in lou of aluminum. That is the laptop line will now be aluminum.

I'm personally waiting till 10/14 to see what the new MBs look like and what the expected speed increase could be. I really like the plastic MBs as the polycarbinate case is much more durable then the aluminum so for me, does look outweigh speed.

I hope it is this month. I'm drooling for a new PB. My TiBook is literally on its last legs. Both hinges broke and I have it velcroed so that the screen doesn't flip all the way back. Coating has chipped off a long time ago. And, I'm not a road warrior. I mainly use it at home! Sigh!.

I want my Mac!!!!

I, too, am anxiously awaiting the new macbook/macbookpro. I like the polycarbonate better than the aluminum primarily because of the wi-fi improvement, but will be happy with either.
