I need to know if someone out there is using an iMac 3.06 GHz with Intel Core 2 Duo and NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS video card and Microsoft XP Professional with Fusion or Parallels. What I want to do is switch over from my Dell Precision and run SolidWorks.
Will it work and what problems might I encounter?

I may not be exactly who you want to hear from but I am successfully running SolidWorks on my Mac laptop. Here are the details.
I've got the current mid range 2.5GHz MacBook Pro with an 8600GT (512Mb VRAM) and 2Gb of RAM. I've installed Windows Vista Home Premium using Apple's own BootCamp software that comes with Leopard. I've been using SolidWorks 2008 for a couple of months now with great success. Everyone I talk to is amazed that I am able to run SolidWorks on my Mac laptop!
Just thought I'd share my positive experience. Considering that the specs for the 3.06GHz iMac are better than my MacBook Pro, you should be just fine running SolidWorks through BootCamp. I'm not sure about Parallels or Fusion though because I don't think either of them have full graphics acceleration yet and that is a critical component for running CAD software.
