I live in a third world country and relish the thought of being able to download entertainment and software via peer to peer, but I am completely new to this technology. Fortunately we have DSL with about 460 kbs download and about 73 kbs upstream (on a good day). I've recently purchased licenses for Acquisition and Xtorrent (though I find little difference between the two) and have them installed on my Intel MacBook Pro.

I would like to ask four questions. Firstly how should I configure the upload:download ratio? Next, what limits (if any) should I put on the upload and download bandwidths? Third, would you advise that I change the default listening ports (BitTorrent and Gnutella? The last question has to do with security. How should I configure my Firewall (Mac OS X Leopard)?

Thank you so much for your kind help.

My first suggestion is to use Opera as a torrent clinet (opera.com), opera is simple and easy, you barely need to do any work for it, my second is in system pregerences, for firewall, allow incoming networking connections for opera.

Thanks so much. I'll give Opera a try.
