I will receive a Mac Pro this week and will use it as my primary work computer, replacing a current MacBook Pro. One of the primary reasons for the change is internal storage.
Current Configuration
MacBook Pro, 150GB internal drive, 500GB RAID 0 FW800, 250GB FW400.
iTunes content is on the 250GB drive; I use the 500GB drive for Time Machine.
New Configuration
Mac Pro, 320GB internal, 1T internal, 500GB RAID 0 FW800
My plan is to use the 320GB drive for documents, applications; the 1T internal for Time Machine, and the 500GB drive for iTunes content (lots of movies, TV shows)
Two Questions
1. What is the best way to transfer content, insuring no loss of data?
2. Can I transfer the Time Machine files to another drive and continue to build, or do I have to start over? And if I have to start over, will I lose access to the older TM files?
Thanks in advance.
