I have this exact same issue and given recent system issues, I receive almost 100 SMS alerts a day; one telling me the system or service is down and the other telling me when it becomes available. As the author stated, this is typical of network monitoring systems.

I don't however understand this solution. When I open SMS I see all my Text Messages. Each one has a unique Subject; in this case a number, but each is from the same email recipient. The only method I know to delete is to tap Edit and then tap EACH AND EVERY red circle on the left in order to tap the red Delete button on the right.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Paul,

The solution some people have used is to have the SMS messages sent to a slightly different address.
(See above about sending to @mobile.mycingular.com vs sending to @mobile.att.net)
Then the SMS messages all have the same "subject"
(although what I think you call the "subject" is really the "from", meaning who sent it).

Then to clear all the messages, you just clear the one conversation.

The downside is that you can ONLY clear them all at once.

You mentioned that there are good solutions on Cydia for jailbroken phones... what are they? I'm jailbroken, that would be fine with me. I just want something lightweight and reliable, with a good reputation.

4 years later and you still can't do this in stock iOS. This is standard functionality on the Windows 8 phone. I think I'll be checking one of those out before I make a final decision on the iFailed 5.....
