Color of hyperlinks varies between MS Word on Mac & on PC?

We're running Office 2008 for Mac, and when we save a document with hyperlinks, the links show as blue. But if I email the file to a colleague running a PC, they show up as yellow (regardless of version - XP, Vista). On a PC, we can change the hyperlink colors back to blue but it is a royal pain.

Any idea how to avoid this (short of sending files as PDFs)? I've googled on the issue and found squat. It's a real pain - my boss is an a* and harps on this all of the time.
