Hi,

Everytime I plug my Canon digital cam into my iMac, it automatically launches iPhoto and I can only import my pics through iPhoto. How do I get my computer to recognize my camera so it mounts on my desktop so I can copy the pics to wherever I want?

Thanks.

Many Canon cameras do not support USB Mass Storage and therefore cannot be mounted on the desktop. However, you can open Apple Image Capture and download them to any folder with that, which can be better than Finder drag since you can preview which ones you want. While you are in Image Capture you can open Preferences and turn off iPhoto as the program that automatically opens when you plug in a camera.
