I'm a little confused here. Does this allow you to download and read books? Is it like the Sony/Amazon reader? The link is just a download.

No it comes with a few copyright free classics and that is it. They do promise to deliver more books in future updates though. Most copyright free books are available from the Web anyhow - mostly from the Gutenberg Project. Classics cannot download from these sites, Stanza can - it does not look that fancy, but it works amazingly well and they have a free desktop app that allows you to convert most text to compatible books and sync them up to the iPhone.
So, besides the pseudo "Delicious Library" interface, there is only free content included and you have no choices.
You are not "Book 'em Dano", aren't you?

Yes, yes I am. And now you have the Hawaii Five-O theme song stuck in your head. Bwahahahahaha!

The link at the top of the article takes you to the Classics website. The link at the bottom of the article takes you to the iTunes Store where you can read about it, view screenshots, purchase—and it has a link on the right to the author's website.

I have Stanza.
There is also a new app called eReader. This program lets you download directly on the iPhone/iPod Touch. You can download from manybooks.net I just downloaded Bartleby, The Scrivener for free.
