When you put just 'flash' in the title, one automatically things of Adobe Flash for the Safari browser, not a little LED....maybe adding the word camera flash or just LED light would have been less misleading.

We're limited on the number of characters we can put in headlines, and if I had meant Adobe Flash, I would have capitalized it, as it's a proper name.

This may be as stupid question, but is it battery operated? I'm headed out on a 3 day trip where there will be no electric outlets to charge with...and need a portable charger.

If this is anything like the LED on my "old" (since my iPhone) Sony-Ericson phone, It won't do much as a flash, but works well as a flashlight (if it's really dark).

If you just get the free flashlight app your whole screen can be a flashlight....

I have that app. I'm not concerned with the light so much as needing a portable "charger" for the phone. Is the device battery operated to extend the charge? I just need something portable (battery operated) to charge the phone?

Yes, it is battery operated. Charge it to full before you leave on your trip and it should able to charge your iPhone (or any other device) couple times whilst on your trip.

Be nice if someone did a Solar Re-charger for the iPhone / iPhone3G...

Why not a LED camera flash--I mean, just a camera flash and nothing else? No way I need this bulky mess, the extra 'features', nor the price. $30 tops for a teeny tiny 1 cm (H) x 1 cm (D) x 3 cm (W) dock connected iPhone camera flash/flashlight.

I didn't see a mouse rating in the article. Also, were you able to compare it to other battery extenders? I have just bought a battery extender/charger by Richard Solo. The iV seems a bit more useful and might still allow the phone + battery to fit into a pocket. I wish I had known about it before shelling out $49.

To bulky in design. The Mophie Juice Pack for the iPhone 3G is a lot slimmer though lacks the LED flash for the camera.
