Thanks for the perspective. Version 2.1 is pending Apple's approval at this time which will address many of the concerns you raise. Two issues cured are that the upload of entries is fixed and the amount of detail presented to easily view your records has been enhanced. We will continue to add features based on user feedback and appreciate this critique.

We use a web-based application called timeclockonline.com. They are more for desktop use rather than a mobile device but they do have a mobile interface that takes hourly time, project time and expenses. If you're looking for a good timekeeping application, I would suggest you give them a gander.

Great writeup! A bit surprised not to see TSheets considered in the review. Would be very interested to hear/read your thoughts.

Few days after this review "Eternity Time Log" had been released on iTunes App Store.
There is also free "Eternity Time Log Lite" to try and see if it works for you.
And remember, time is all you have ;)

After going through the very same process (buying/trying everything), I finally decided to stay with iTimeSheet. It is not the prettiest app (the developer has the odd idea of mixing pseudo-Windows UI elements, e.g. text fields with attached buttons and standard checkboxes with the better stuff Apple provides in the SDK, resulting in an odd-looking experience), still it is the most flexible and rock-solid I have found. You can enter start and end times or a duration, there are also "now" buttons to set start/end to actual times. There is customizable one-tap export to CSV (either based on a date range or from a search result, separators and Mac/Win targets can be specified) and nice pie charts let you see what is consuming most time easily. There is also a "chargeable" indicator for entries - running totals are generated for total and chargeable hours. You can assign icons to customers (very useful) and there is a tool for batch data management (batch copy/move/delete records between/from customers/projects). The only thing it really lacks, is the possibility to specify hourly rates, but doing that in the spreadsheet after export is a minor issue for me. I just hope the developer leaves his fugly Windows roots behind and makes the GUI standards compliant at some point.
