I just bought a linksys wireless-G broadband router so I could use my roomate's roadrunner cable internet connection. We followed the easy cd instructions and hooked the router up to the modem and his pc as the main computer with the startup linksys software installed on it and my mac G4 tower running OSX 10.4.11 in the second of four ethernet slots. The pc works fine and quick. My mac hooks up to the internet, but is slow and cannot process several things and cannot process video unless it is very low definition. The regular and HD video streams just drag through, if even that, showing only a frame every few seconds. The strange thing is that when I disconnect the router and hook my computer up to the modem directly it happens as well. I also tried switching the ethernet cables, and they both work fine on his pc. So it has to be something with my computer. Maybe somethig I have to change or reset or something. In the past I have had no trouble using the internet seamlessly including high definition video, using both dsl and cable services. I haven't installed anything new on the computer since the last time it was working fine months ago...what can I do? Thank you for any advice you can share.
Daniel

hit one of the speed test sites and see what your speeds are.
at the office and don't have em handy, but if no one links one or two to you, I will this eve when I am home.
also, what video card do you have in the G4?
and how much RAM?
my money says your speed test will be fine and you will find your video card to be the hold up.

-Hi,
Check your speed like -Nuke mentioned: http://speedtest.net
You didn't install anything on your G4 w/ the CD did you? This is odd since you have had good speed on your Mac in the past.
