Youch! That has got to be the most unprovoked attack I've seen on a civilized forum in quite a long time now. It's trivial and petty, and yet its sheer pointlessness is still attention-grabbing!

I'm hoping (but not expecting) that this was one of those weird oversights by Apple that they somehow missed putting the new Maps in the update bundle, and they will give it to us in an update. Hoping, but not expecting.

Not that it'll help, but I've filed feedback with Apple on this. That's probably a more productive alternative than complaining here.

here's what i'm going to do. Upgrade my pwned ipod touch and wait for some hacker to add the functionality back into my ipod. that's what i'm going to do and I sugest everyone else do this so that apple gets it that we don't like paying for things others get for free :/

Apparently, there are several reasons for that;
A) Legal and "accountantial".
B) Technical - iPod Touch uses different CPU http://www.macworld....fm?newsid=23650 and, furthermore, the Touch doesn't have GSM and 3G, both of which, I assume, have something to do with mobile map positioning....

A different CPU that's faster and handles 3D better.

Then why do iPod Touch have the ability to use Maps at all? Lacking the cellular technologies (and GPS) hasn't hindered us from getting driving directions, so why not walking? We can run Google Earth, so why not Street View?

I've got an iPhone and a touch. Does this make me a 1st and 2nd class citizen? Or perhaps an accumulative 3rd class citizen? ;-)

No, that makes you a 1.5th class citizen.

Hey, I cam across this article here:
http://www.ipodnn.co...uches.get.voip/
...and have been able to verify that I no longer get error messages when plugging in a Belkin TuneTalk. However, I have no way of knowing yet whether this works as advertised. Anyone else had any luck with Voice Recorders on the 2.2 update?
